When Did Drag Racing First Become A National Event?

Author: The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) was founded in 1951. Although drag racing can trace its roots further back 1951 might be the year that drag racing became a national event. This was followed two years later by the first NHRA sanctioned drag race in Pomona, CA.
